‘‘Warm in expression, yet with a masculine presence, vocally effortless- almost casual. This is how one imagines a musical star of ancient Greece.’’

Personal Background
Krešimir Dujmić is a Croatian baritone whose artistry blends commanding stage presence with a richly expressive voice shaped by years of dedicated musical training. Beginning his musical journey at the age of ten, he refined his craft at the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb and later at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz, where he continued developing his vocal and dramatic identity among a vibrant community of emerging European artists.
Guided by world‑renowned mentors; Metropolitan Opera stars Eva‑Maria Westbroek and Frank Van Aken, conductor Tamir Chasson, and esteemed vocal pedagogues Prof. Dubravka Kruselj and Nina Cossetto - Krešimir cultivated a vocal profile marked by intensity, elegance, and emotional depth.
His operatic debut in 2018 as Apollo in Apollo e Dafne at the Graz Opera House announced him as a young artist of striking promise. That promise was affirmed when he received the Special Prize of Theater Chemnitz at the Zinka Milanov Competition in 2022, leading to his first German engagement as Zuniga in Carmen and opening the door to a flourishing career across German theaters.
Since then, Krešimir has embodied a wide spectrum of roles, from the lyrical and noble Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice to the dark authority of Ottokar in Der Freischütz, the playful sophistication of Falke in Die Fledermaus, and the dramatic weight of Vater in Hänsel und Gretel. His concert work includes Handel’s Messiah at the Scratch Muziekdagen festival in Leiden, Frank Martin’s Golgotha with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, and Schubert’s Schwanengesang performed as part of the Schubert Marathon by The Fat Lady.
In recent seasons, he expanded his repertoire further towards Giuseppe Verdi with Ezio in Attila at the National Theater of Bosnia and Herzegovina and delivered a compelling portrayal of Germont in La Traviata at Theater Plauen‑Zwickau. He now returns to the same stage to embody the ruthless and formidable Don Pizarro in Fidelio, marking a powerful step into the dramatic German repertoire.
Krešimir continues to build a career defined by artistic courage, vocal distinction, and a deep commitment to storytelling through music.

''Excellent as well was the Croatian baritone Krešimir Dujmić as Orpheus. Warm in expression, yet with a masculine presence, vocally effortless—almost casual. This is how one imagines a musical star of ancient Greece.'' [translated from German]

''Out of 30 applicants, the baritone Krešimir Dujmić was chosen. The young Croatian singer made his debut in this role—and deservedly received great acclaim. The choice was especially fitting because he possesses a tessitura that includes darker tones; in addition, he has a flexible voice and a beautiful legato. His artistry is evident not only in his singing but also in his acting. Grief, despair, pain, resignation—he effortlessly conveys the full emotional spectrum of Orpheus to the audience."[translated from German]

''With Krešimir Dujmić, a young Croatian baritone, in the leading role, the love story comes to life anew. He impresses with a rich, resonant voice that brings Gluck's simple melodies to emotional brilliance. Originally composed for a castrato voice, Dujmić adds a glowing depth while also surprising with delicate, sensitive passages in the higher register.''

''Krešimir Dujmić impresses in the title role of Orpheus. The Croatian singer, who was selected from more than 30 applicants, has a powerful voice. Rather than showcasing pure vocal virtuosity, this role requires a more restrained performance—one that aligns with the character’s inner turmoil. Dujmić captures this with intensity, conveying the burden of grief and the relentless journey through Hades to save Eurydice.'' [translated from German]
